Name: Tool to interpolate CAM initial conditions to new model grids. Mission Statement: Consolidate the current multi-step process with a single tool to interpolate CAM initial conditions to new model grids. Goals: 1) Build a single tool that takes a CAM initial file and a new model grid specification as inputs, and writes an output initial file on the new grid. 2) The code should be designed with modules that can be shared by all the various dataset interpolation programs. 3) As much as possible, make use of existing Fortran90 code for generic tasks such as manipulation of netCDF metadata and simple linear/bilinear interpolation. Motivation: The current procedure to create new CAM initial datasets is a fragile and overly complicated multi-step process involving the use of NCL scripts, NCO operators, and Fortran code. It is desirable to simplify the procedure and to build a single tool which is easy to maintain. Authority: Mariana Project Lead: Brian Eaton Resources: Brian Eaton, Wei Yu 6 month/year
