Name: Stage 1.a ESMF evaluation for CCSM Vision: A version of stand-alone CAM that has interfaces for the atmosphere and all surface models which are callable from a top level driver. This will be a pre-ESMF version of the stage 1 evaluation code. Goals: o) Create components for the atmosphere, land, ocean, sea-ice, and a hub. These components implement the current CAM functionality. o) Create import and export states for each of the atm, lnd, ocn, and ice components to be used to communicate with the hub component. o) Create a top level sequential driver to call the component interfaces in a way that reflects current sequence of events in stand-alone CAM. o) All current functionality of stand-alone CAM will be maintained. Motivation: Create a version of CAM which has the structure that will be required for the stage 1 ESMF evaluation, and can be committed to the main CAM development branch. Authority: Bill Collins Project Lead: Mariana Vertenstein Scientific Lead: None Implementation Schedule: o) Create initial, run, final methods for atmosphere. At this point the surface models are still called from physpkg. (1 May 2005) o) Design import/export states for all components. (1 June 2005) o) Create complete atm, lnd, ocn, ice components, along with sequential driver.
