Project:  Ecosystem Dynamical Model 
        
Goal:
    Integrate the most recent version of Keith Moore's  version of the
    dynamical ecosystem model into the CCSM3 pop2 model.
 
Motivation:
    Keith Lindsay developed an ecosystem model, which models interactions
    among carbon and multiple categories of plankton and nutrients.
    Keith Moore further developed this model in CCSM2 with a prototype
    verson of extra-tracer infrastructure.  Upon the release of CCSM3.0,
    Ivan Lima ported the KM version of the ecosystem model to CCSM3, where
    developments continue.
    
    Independently, Mat Maltrud of LANL took a version of the ecosystem code
    and integrated it a non-standard version of LANL's stand-alone pop2
    (the released version of pop2.0.1 does not include Mat's
    tracer infrastructure).
 
    The purpose of this project is to integrate the most up-to-date
    version of the ecosystem model into CCSM3 pop2.

Plan:  
    There are two possible approaches for this project: bring
    the LANL developers' stand-alone pop2 implementation 
    into the CCSM3 pop2 model, or bring the CCSM3 pop(1.4.3)
    version into CCSM3 pop2.

    Follow-on project to the CCSM3 pop2 project, as recommended
    by Keith Lindsay
