Project:  CCSM Ocean Model Working Group Software Engineering Liaison
 
Mission:
  Provide software engineering support to CCSM ocean-model users 
  and developers; serve to promote communications between
  the OWG and CSEG; bring ocean-model perspective to CCSM
  cross-component development efforts
 
Goals: 
  Tasks performed by the ocean-model software engineering
  liaison and many, varied, and on-going.  Tasks include:
          
       * developing CCSM ocean-model code
       * collaborating with ocean scientists in developing
            and integrating CCSM ocean-model code
       * processing CCSM ocean-model data 
       * managing CCSM ocean-model data 
       * trouble-shooting CCSM ocean-model problems
       * serving as the CCSM ocean-model specialist in inter-model
            developments
       * facilitating OWG/CSEG communications
       * leading local OWG weekly meetings
       * running and analyzing ocean model runs (eg, CSL)
 
Motivation: 
  Each component of the CCSM model is a complex numerical
  model requiring specialized support services.  The ocean-model
  software engineering liaison works to provide the ocean-model
  user and developer community support in areas of
  trouble-shooting and model development consistent with CCSM
  objectives and requirements, as well as to promote good 
  communications between the OWG and CCSM, and to bring
  an ocean-model perspective to cross-component development
  efforts.
