Sixth Annual CCSM Workshop Announcement
Breckenridge, Colorado, 26 to 28 June 2001
The Community Climate System Model (CCSM) project has been
developed under the National Science Foundation's (NSF) sponsorship at
NCAR, with
support provided also by the Department of Energy (DOE), the National
Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and the National
Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) as part of the U.S. Global
Change Research Program. The project is coordinated by a CCSM Scientific
Steering Committee consisting of both NCAR and non-NCAR scientists.
Over the past two years, development of new atmosphere,
ocean, land, and sea ice components has been undertaken. It is
expected that an interim version of CCSM-2 will be completed by the
workshop. Development has also been completed on the mass
and energy conserving coupler that allows flexibility in the
spatial resolutions of the component models and straightforward
implementation of alternate components.
The 2001 CCSM Workshop is scheduled at
the same conference center as last year, The
Village at Breckenridge, from Tuesday, 26 June 2001, to
Thursday, 28 June 2001, in Breckenridge, Colorado (please see logistical
information). A draft
agenda is
in progress. The workshop is open, but anyone interested in attending
the workshop must complete the online
registration
form before Friday, 18 May 2001. Limited travel funds may be
available, and the
registration form should indicate details of any financial
requirements needed (lodging, per diem, and ground transportation are
most commonly funded) and also your previous participation or
interest in the CCSM project.
