CCSM Research Tools: CCSM1.0 Public Release

CSM software is based on a framework that divides the complete climate system into component models connected by a coupler. Individual component models, atmosphere, land, ocean, and sea-ice, can be exchanged for alternate models, thus allowing different configurations appropriate for different applications.

CSM1.0, release June 6, 1996, is the first generation of the Climate System Model, a comprehensive coupled model of the Earth's climate system. In this first release, the atmosphere & land models (CCM3.0 & LSM 1.0) are designed to be run at T42 resolution and the ocean & ice models (NCOM 1.1 & CSIM 0.9) are designed to be run at a nominal 2x2 degree resolution. This initial release is only intended to be run on the NCAR CSL Crays (antero, aztec or piaute). Future releases will have more flexibility with respect to the choice of models, grid resolution, and machine portability.

Automatic CSM1.0 install:

To automatically install and run the CSM1.0 model, logon to one of the NCAR CSL Crays and enter the command: /ccm/proc/tools/install.csm1.0

Standard CSM1.0 install:
