2006 Archives

December 2006: CGD's Jeff Kiehl and Christine Shields were awarded UCAR's Outstanding Publication Award for 2006 for their paper titled "Climate Simulation of the Latest Permian: Implications for Mass Extinction". This paper models the climate of the Permian Era using the CCSM3. The paper has been published in "Geology", volume 33, and is available on the web.

December 2006: Marika Holland, Cecilia Bitz, and Bruno Tremblay's 2006 AGU paper titled "Future Abrupt Reductions in the Summer Arctic Sea Ice" has been getting quite a bit of attention in the media. This study use the future climate scenario runs of the CCSM3 to predict changes in Arctic sea ice. The full paper is available on the web.
